罗伯·劳正式以常规角色的身份加盟这部即将于今年秋季播出的cbs医疗剧集的第二季。
劳将于9月28日播出的本季首播集正式登场。他将饰演名为colonel ethan willis的医生，因参与美军的伤残老兵关爱研究项目，从阿富汗的战地医院调到了天使纪念医院来教授战备医学。他激进不守规则约束的作风受到了leanne rorish医生(marcia gay harden饰演)的赞赏，但似乎其它的医生并不认同他。
劳将和哈登一起加入该剧的全明星阵容，该阵容包括路易古兹曼，梅勒妮钱德拉，哈里福特，本杰明霍林斯沃思，吉莲·默瑞，布利斯高祖以及威廉·艾伦·扬。
劳的加入将是《黑色警报》的诸多改变之一，随着剧集进入第二季，cbs对该剧进行的大换血。改变还包括将布利斯高祖提为常规角色，将第一季的邦妮桑莫薇和拉扎杰弗里移除。这是cbs想要提升剧集收视的常规做法，劳的加盟将大大提升剧集的关注度。
在2015至2016年间，劳出演了fox台的喜剧《律师兄弟》并凭借该剧获得金球奖提名。可惜该剧在第一季结束之后就被砍，但这也为劳空出了档期使他能够加盟《黑色警报》。
作为电视界的大腕，劳出名的剧集包括《白宫风云》《公园与游憩》以及《兄弟姐妹》。
